My website looks good. So why am I still not getting enquiries?
You’ve created the most stunning website…

Jackie Morrey-Grace, creative copywriter and strategist, Launch!
Your friends and family all say it looks super professional so you get it shared and wait for the business to come rolling in.
So, why isn’t the phone ringing?
Well, the unfortunate truth is…
A good-looking website isn’t always an effective one. And before you cry “But that’s not fair!” we agree, which is why we’ve created this quick blog to help you on your merry way.
Ready? Let’s get stuck in, starting with the BIG question we wished EVERYONE would ask themselves before creating a website…
Does your website explain what you actually do?
It sounds really obvious, but the fact remains that this is still one of the BIGGEST mistakes we see in business – and we see it all time.
Usually the culprit is sitting right under your nose too:
YOU understand your business along with all its lingo BUT… you make the terrible assumption that your visitors also will. Which is a shame, because you’ll be missing out on a heap of potential customers who could really do with your products or services.
The good news is, this is really easy to test, so try this.
Head to your page as though for the very first time and – this might be slightly harder – as though you know NOTHING about your business. Within the first few seconds you should be able to see exactly:
- What you do
- Who you help
- Why they should choose you
Now come off your page and write down ONE quick answer for each question, then ask yourself how you got on.
Because if people can’t immediately work out these basics for themselves, they won’t stay long enough to enquire.
Secondly…
Is your branding building trust

Amore du Plessis, photographer, Launch!
Because did you know that people make decisions REALLY QUICKLY.
This means that your potential clients are much more likely to trust your business (and hang around your website), if the vibe feels consistent, professional and authentic.
And THIS means making sure all your branding elements are ALIGNED and CLEAR:
- Photography
- Messaging (so much more than generic “copy”)
- Graphics
- Logo
- PRESENCE
Get these right and trust and understanding tend to follow.
Thirdly…
Can people find your website?

Cara Corlett, web and graphic design, Launch!
Because even the most snazzy website won’t generate enquiries if no one ever sees it.
And this is where SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) comes in. Good SEO helps search engines understand your website so it has a better chance of appearing when people search for your products or services.
Increasingly, there’s another consideration: AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation).
This is where people are asking AIs such as ChatGPT, Google AI direct questions such as:
“Who designs websites on the Isle of Man,” or even, “Why isn’t my website getting customers?”
Websites that answer real questions are much more likely to appear in these AI-generated answers than ones that don’t, so making sure your messaging is clear, relevant and answer driven, is great for your website.
And FINALLY!
Are you making it easy to get in touch?
Because sometimes the problem is surprisingly simple:
Your contact details are difficult to find – and if that’s the case, the most obvious step is that people end up leaving without doing anything.
Sounds daft, but true!
To remedy this, make sure every single page contains a simple CTA (Call To Action) – whether that’s getting in touch, requesting a quote or booking a meeting.
Because remember:
Your website should work for your business.
It should communicate who you are, build confidence, answer questions and encourage people to take action. And if it isn’t, get in touch:
